About Me
My name is Justine Herbert (she/her), I obtained a Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology from Lewis and Clark College in Portland, Oregon. I am an Idaho State licensed Counselor LPC#8606. I spent about 3+ years as a school counselor in Washington state in the Elementary & Middle school levels. My background includes working with kids & their parents with Depression, Anxiety, ADHD, Autism Spectrum, suicidal ideations, grief & loss.
Being a school based therapist allows me into my client’s world. I get to know their teachers, other staff members they may work with, their friends, other students they struggle with, & of course their parents/caretakers. I feel this perspective provides a bigger picture of what is going on in their lives. There can be a gap between school & home so being able to facilitate and help parents/caretakers with best parenting practices, how the school works, and finding common ground is one of my goals working in the schools. I have experience using Behavioral Therapy (CBT) as well as Play, Solution Focused Therapy & recently completed training levels 1 and 2 of Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR). I also draw from Positive Psychology, Mindfulness & Choice theories. I believe in the use of therapy to empower individuals to find mental & emotional well-being. I feel we should never stop learning so I am always eager to learn new & creative ways to help my clients and their surrounding people. I love my job & enjoy planting seeds of change for students and their families. I have two kids of my own & happily married, living here in Boise. Hobbies include traveling/ adventure, hiking, creating art, mostly, just being with my family & friends. |
